Obituary of Michael Howell

Michael Howell, died Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at his home in St. Paul. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, April 5 at Free at Last Church of God in Christ, 200 W. Seventh Street, St. Paul, with the Reverend Joseph Webb, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church (10-11 AM.) Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Howell, Jr., Destin Howell, Walter Davis, Dana Davis, Quin Powell, Jordan Lewis, Antron Moorehead, and Valentae Moorehead. Michael Howell, born to the union of Inez Howell and William Howell on November 28, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois. "Big Mike" grew up and attended Holy Angels Elementary and Phillips High School on the south side of Chicago. His most memorable attribute was his love for his family. He grew up in the Ida B. Wells homes, was a very funny man who loved to joke around with everyone about anything and everything. He loved to fish and whistle a lot. As a young adult, Michael attended Job Corps in DeKalb, IL. He earned a certificate to be a Forklift Operator. As a hard worker, his jobs included Forklifting, Machinist and, Milkman. He also volunteered his time cooking at the Dorothy Day Center. Michael married Xava Tidwell Howell August 2, 1987. He then moved his family from Chicago to St. Paul, Minnesota where he raised his children. He was a member of Free at Last Church. He leaves to cherish his memory: daughters, Daisy Howell, Ronda Howell, Gia Howell, Monica Howell, and Tamarra Howell; sons, Michael Howell, Jr. (Angela) and Destin Howell; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Sandra Robinson (Bobby Brown), Brenda Mottley (Ronald), Carmen Howell, Pamela Jennings (Glenn), Angela Williams (Robert); brothers, Dennis Howell, William Howell III, Michael was preceded in death by his brothers, William Howell II and Gregory Howell; mother, Inez Howell, and father, William Howell. Arrangements entrusted to the Spielman Mortuary.
