Obituary of George E. McCall

George E. McCall, age 56, died Saturday, January 14, 2012 at his home in St. Paul. A Funeral Service will be held at 12 Noon on Tuesday, January 31 at the Spielman Mortuary, with the Reverend Sylvester Davis, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service (11 AM-12 Noon). Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery with Full Military Honors accorded by the Fort Snelling Memorial Rifle Squad. Serving as pallbearers will be Jerome English, Mark E. McCall, David McCall, Rashard English, Edward English, Jr., and Artist Nelson. George Ester McCall was born May 21, 1955 in Cleveland, Mississippi. At an early age, he was baptized at Maple Street Baptist Church in Des Moines, Iowa. George grew up in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He attneded Wilson Junior High and Central Senior High School in Saint Paul. Music was the passion of George's life and percussion is where he found his place. After high school, George's passions took him many places. He attended Shaw University in North Carolina and he attended Mankato University in southern Minnesota. George enlisted in the Marines. George was preceded in death by his parensts, Wester Lee Williams and George McCall, Sr.; sister, Lubertha McCall; brothers, Theartis Williams, Jr. and John Wesley McCall, along with niece Aqueelah Sama English. George helped raise most of his nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as friends' children. He loved being around his family especially his sister Ruby and her family. George leaves to mourn his father, Pastor Theartis Williams and his wife, Shirley; sister, Ruby; brothers, Jeff, Mark, David, and Damon. He aslo leaves to mourn: aunties, Lois, Bessie, Dot, and Ida; uncles, Joe, Oscar, Simpson Nelson, and Allen McCall; nephews, Eddie, Jeremie, and Rashard; nieces, Twyla, Leona, and Diana, along with a host of great-nephews, nieces, cousins, other family members and friends, including the McCree family of Greenville, Mississippi.
