Obituary of Roy Edward Moody

Roy Edward Moody, age 82, died Thursday, January 12, 2012 at Regions Hospital, St. Paul. A Funeral Service will be held at 12 Noon on Monday, January 23 at Piercing Faith Church (formerly Apostolic Faith Temple Church), 305 Goodrich Avenue (at West 7th Street), St. Paul, with the Reverend A.Z. Jones and the Reverend Danny Givens, officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church (11 AM-12 Noon). Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery with Full Military Honors accorded by the Fort Snelling Memorial Rifle Squad. Serving as pallbearers will be Edward Moody, Terrill Johnson, Jeff Mills, Anthony Mills, Andre Moody, and Scott Moody. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kirk Robledo, Edward Johnson, and Donald Mills. Roy was born on January 14, 1929 in St. Paul, Minnesota. After high school, Roy enlisted and servied in the U.S. Air Force. In 1954, Roy married Byrdie Jackson and together they raised eight children. Sadly, their ninth and final child, Terry Lynn, pased away in 1964. Roy worked in a number of professions including running a trucking company with his brother, Robert "Bobby" and other business partners. He eventually retired from St. Paul Public Housing in 1996. Roy always shared a warm smile and a quick laugh with family and friends. He enjoyed playing cards and dominoes or watching sports and westerns on TV. He will be greatly missed by a multitude of family and friends. Roy was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Byrdie Moody; daughter, Terry Lynn; parents, Stella and Roy Moody; brothers, Homer Dukes adn Robert Moody; sisters, Stella Moody, Vondetta Terry, Vivian Washington, Carolyn Farley, and Alice Savage. Roy leaves behind his family to cherish his loving memory: sister, Linda; daughters, Donna (Mike), Roxanne (spouse Edward), Monique, RaeVonn (spouse Allen), and sons, Donald, Stanford, Wayne, and Kirk (Nikki). Roy also leaves behind his extended family: Melody Thompson and her daughters, son, and grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Tusa (spouse Mustapha; and a host of granchildren, great-grandschildren, and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.
