Obituary of Greggory LaRone O'Bannon

Greggory L. O'Bannon, age 57, died Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Regions Hospital. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, January 9 at First Trinity Church of God in Christ, 981 Marshall Avenue at Chatsworth Street, St. Paul, with the Reverend Ronald Fulford, officiating. Visitation 5-8 PM Sunday, January 8 at the Spielman Mortuary. THERE WILL BE NO VISITATION PRIOR TO THE SERVICE AT CHURCH ON MONDAY. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Phillip Benson, Dwan Lucas, Jorrel Turner, Dominic Lucas, Drew Lucas, Royce O'Bannon, and Keven O'Bannon, Jr. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Gaylord Churcher, Howard Scroggins, Richard (Mac) Smaller, Fela Burch, and Sir Clevee' O Adams. On May 17, 1954, Greggory LaRone O'Bannon was born to proud parents, Sampson O'Bannon and Gertrude O'Bannon-Donaby in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Greggory attended McKinley and Webster grade school and graduated from Mechanic Arts High School. He continued his education and received an A.A. Degree in Business Management from Inver Grove College and also received an over-the-road trucking license from Sun Prairie Trucking School in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Greggory was very proud of his community and condsidered himself one of the original "Saint Paul fellas". Growing up in Saint Paul, he was very active in the neighborhood programs such as the Ober Boys Club, Loft Teen Center, Hallie Q. Brown Center, and of course, the original Oxford playground. Greggory was employed at Cedarvale Junior High School, Metcalf grade school, and Northwestern Bell for many years. Greggory cherished spending time with his family, traveling, cooking, and was a member of the American Legion where he regularly went to meet and greet and discuss current and community affairs with others. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sampson O'Bannon and Gerturde O'Bannon-Donaby. He leaves to cherish his memory: sister, Kim O'Bannon, brothers, Richard (Rickey), Keven O'Bannon, Sr., Versie Donaby; sons, Phillip Benson, Donnell Lucas, Dwan Lucas, Jorrel Turner, Dominic Lucas, Drew Lucas; daugher Adriana England; sons, Jordan and Justin Sinkfield; also 15 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; and a host of nices, nephews, and cousins. The O'Bannon family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for all of the expressions of love and kindness that have been shown. The grattitude and thankfulness that is felt is immeasurable.
