Obituary of Patricia Ann Fernandez

Patricia Ann Fernandez, age 64, died Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at her home in Shoreview. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 18 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 501 W. Lawson Avenue, St. Paul, with the Reverend Steve Daniels, Jr., officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church (10-11 AM). Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Garland Sanchez, Sr., Donnie Preston, Henry Ford, Jason McCray, Garland, Sanchez, Jr., Deritte Fernandez, John Mellion, nad Rodney Smith, Jr. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Fernandez, Sr., Harold Turnquist, Collins Fernandez, and Abraham McCarty. Patricia A. Fernandez of Shoreview, Minnesota passed gently into the hands of God on Tuesday, February 7, 2012. She was 64 years old. She was a dedicated wife to Dwight W. Fernandez for 43 years. She was the mother of Leah Fernandez of Maplewood, MN and Shanelle Fernandez of Baton Rouge, LA, and the loving grandmother of Maia Fernandez-Ray and Lyra E. Ford. Through the years, Patricia worked in the Saint Paul Public School System in varous capacities, but retired as the Director of Special Education. She earned a Masters Degree from the University of Minnesota and completed all coursework for her Doctorate in Education Administration. She was a former member of New Hope Baptist Church, where she was very active with the church choir, children's church, and vacation bible school. Later, she joined her husband as a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. She spent her life working as an advocae for all kids, and her loving spirit touched the lives of many. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Arrangements entrusted to the Spielman Mortuary.
