Obituary of Maeola Thomas

Maeola Steel Thomas, age 98, passed away peacefully on Wednesday October21, 2020 at her home in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She was born February 5th, 1922 in Moscow Arkansas, to Mr. & Mrs. Ivory Steel. She attended Samuel Vester High-School, where she met her husband L.Z Thomas. Maeola and L.Z moved to Pine Bluff, Arkansas and had eleven children. Maeola was a sharecropper until 1957, when she began her job at the papermill where she worked until she moved to Topeka, Kansas in 1963. Later in 1969, Maeola moved to Saint Paul, Minnesota and worked at Summit Manor until she retired. Maeola was a member of New Birth Missionary Church until her passing. Maeola is preceded in death by her husband, L.Z Thomas; sons, Clester Thomas, L.Z Thomas Jr, LeeVester Thomas, LeeAndrew Thomas and Clavin Thomas; also her daughter, Angie Taylor. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Huggins, Lucinda Blackmon, Verdgerean Jackson, Maxine Thustom and Doris Thomas; sisters, Donna and Kathy Steel; 29 grandchildren, 77 great-grandchildren, 63 great-great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-great-grandchildren. Visitation 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Friday October 30th at the Spielman Mortuary, 344 W. University Ave. St. Paul. A Graveside Service will will held at 3:00 p.m. Friday at Elmhurst Cemetery.
