Obituary of Ruth M. Harris

Ruth M. Harris, age 95, died Monday, February 13, 2012 at St. Joseph's Hospital. A Funeral Service will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, February 22 at St. James A.M.E. Church, 624 W. Central Avenue at Dale Street, St. Paul, with the Reverend Byron Moore, officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5-8 PM at the Spielman Mortuary and also one hour prior to the service at church on Wednesday (11 AM-Noon). Interment Elmhurst Cemetery Serving as pallbearers will be Edward Harris, Jr., David Harris, Darin Thomas, Phillip Harris, Robert Langfard, and Barry Harrison. Family and friends will serve as flower bearers. Ruth Mae Harris was born November 28, 1916 in Sedalia, Missouri to Osborne and Kate Price. She was their ninth child. She was raised in the Methodist church and was a devotee of that faith in her youth, being active in the church. She received her education in Missouri and California and loved to travel, sew, and crochet. Ruth Mae was a member of the Missionary Society of St. James, VFW Auxilliary, Golden Agers, and the Minnesota Senior Federation. Ruth Mae was united in holy matrimony to St. Elmo Harris in Long Beach, CA. They were the parents of St. Elmo, Jr., St. Edward, Evette, and Michael. Ruth Mae took her flight to eternity at 8:30 P.M. on Monday, February 13, 2012. She was preceded in death by her husband, St. Elmo Harris, Sr; son, St. Elmo, Jr. Her loving memories will be cherished by her sons, St. Edward Harris, Sr. and Michael Harris; daughter, Evette Chavez, all of St. Paul, MN; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren; other relatieves and friends.
