Obituary of James Harold Schlict

James Schlicht, age 76 of St. Paul, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday October 1, 2023, surrounded by family and friends, after a long battle with cancer.

Jim was born on May 29th, 1947 in St. Paul, Minnesota, son of Milton and Helen (Janke) Schlicht. After high school, Jim served in Vietnam, earning several medals including the Purple Heart and Bronze star.

Jim married Kathy Lunka, and they were later divorced.

Through the years Jim worked as a cement mason and at various Construction jobs. After retirement, he enjoyed working at Willards Bar. He loved being around family and friends, gaming on his PC, and playing bingo.

Jim is survived by two sons, James (Tammy) and Todd (Nadia); two grandchildren, Todd Jr. and Kinsley; his longtime partner, Darlene Givens; seven brothers and sisters, Linda Schlicht, Roger, David (Cathy), Wendy (Tim) Loun, Steve (Holly), Susan (Mike) Snyder, Peggy (Kelly) Morris, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Helen Schlicht; and one grandson, Trevor.

Funeral services will be held at Speilman Mortuary, 344 University Ave in St. Paul, on Tuesday October 10th at 4 PM, with visitation one hour before the service.

Interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Monday October 16th at 11:15 AM.
